Engineer. Executive. Entrepreneur. And now, I am finally able to add the title “Artist.” In about 30 days, the first single (It’s Alright) from my debut record (Release Won) will drop on all the major streaming services.

When I was a teenager, I (as well as some of my friends) had dreams of growing up and playing in a band. Now I wasn’t going to be in just any band, my band was going to be popular, play tours, and maybe even win awards. Also, I didn’t just want to be a musician, I wanted to write books. I wanted to write poetry. I wanted to do lots of creative things… Those dreams made the possibilities of the future almost intoxicating.
Then life happened. Bills happened. None of the music I created sounded like the songs on the radio. I had no time to practice any instrument, let alone finish a song. Every obstacle was another link in a chain that kept me tethered to a desk. So, the dreaming stopped, the doubting started, and surviving the current crisis of the day was all I focused on. In my case, all of my artistic and creative aspirations were completely put on hold.
Fast forward 30 years to 2018. I am middle-aged, and I am thinking about my future, and there was only one thing that was absolutely clear. There was nothing intoxicating about the possibilities of my future. Sure… I’ll stop working one day, but you know… at some point, we will stop working one way or another. I needed to get back to basics. I thought, “I’ll make a record one day”. No plans to make a record… just a goal without a date. The dream is back.
Getting to this point has been an absolutely mind-bending experience. I am going to write about those experiences. I’ll give everyone who’s had their dreams subjugated to the realities of life some often funny but always insightful stories that might get the activity of dreaming back to the forefront of their minds.
